Curse of the Crimson Throne

Crypt Keeping
Necromancers and Stygian beast and golems oh my!

Grab A pint sit by the hearth because it’s time for a tale of adventure! The field marshall was in need of our services once again, it seems the grandson of one of the tribal leaders of a local Shoanti tribe was murdered in the riots. Now this in its self was a problem but a corpse peddler grabbed the body and is suspected to have sold it to Rolth. Now Shoanti tradition dictates that the body must be whole to do funeral rights, whole body’s and necromancy do not go together well.

We set out to an eerie underground cemetery with a local church, after some prayers from our resident paladin we set foot into a dark mausoleum. No sooner do we enter then a great skeletal owl beast and some skeletal minions spring to life. Now I’m well traveled I once saw a monk remove a bandits heart and seal the wound in one motion, but this was something else Thalacos called upon his gods divine power and smote the owl beast in a dazzling display of pure holy might. The unearthly beast was staggered and crumbling and was made short work of. We found a sea of bones that the owl beast was using to summon skeletons to his aid a sad fate for many.

Further in we encountered all sorts of wretched beasts. We decided to split up to cover more ground I went with the two gnomes and our mysterious oracle. We encounter a grotesque flesh golem of sewn together animated parts. With a mighty ballad inspiring courage into my allies Scapp, Fiddle and his snake fuzzy, and the samsaran destroyed the abomination. After inspecting the golem we found a darkened leg with Shoanti tattoos, I knew at this point we were in for a delightful evening of searching for dismembered limbs.

Further in at this time Nissa and Thalacos encountered a rock golem the oozed acidic blood but it was no match for them we met up and continued into the mausoleum. After dispatching some lesser beasts and macabre abominations the group needed to split. Fiddle, Scapp, and the oracle encountered a treasure trove of arcane knowledge. The elf, the human and I went down a passge way, I singing a merry ballad, we encountered a foul flying demon who summoned a battalion of minions, Ha I said you’ll need more than that bring an army bring 10 armies! I was stricken with blindness it seems the room was enchanted with some dark aura. Nissa’s arrows flew, Thalacos’s sword smashed through bone and armor and I inspired my allies. It was quite the battle as the foul beast began to read through some scolls a blinded Thalacos ran throught the skeletons and grabbed the beast pinning its wings and crushing it in his grip. Nissa dispatched a few more skeletons and helped Thalacos with the summoner with it dead the skeletons became motionless. Victorious we regrouped and explored the rest of the tomb finding the Shoanti boys body returning it to the field marshal and averting a war all in a days work!

The marshal informed us that Trina was to be executed! I was furious we went to the ceremony ready to stop the execution, you would think it was more a seasonal ball than an execution. When just as we were about to Blackjack a local legend appeared! He halted the executioner and whisked Trina away. He stood back to the sun, cape billowing, damsel in one arm, he drank a potion and lept from the building, this is the kind of guy I can get behind! With blackjacks rescue the locals now questioned Trina`s guilt and I became a little more certain of the queens. The rest from here is a tale for another time, but do the valiant heroes join up with blackjack? Who did murder the king? What of the necromancer Rolth? and jsut who is blackjack?

The fall of a crimelord; Chaos in the streets Part 1
A rude awakening

Gadrian Lamb is dead, thanks to the righteous ways of my kin and I. We’ve departed from the docks into the hellish streets of Korvosa. Smells of death and fire fill the air, and screams echo in the distance. What has happened in the short time we’ve been gone. Nissa led the way through the streets back to the fortune teller’s abode. It was chaos until we finally reached Zellara’s home. We tried looking for clues as to her mysterious appearance when her rotting corpse in the docks showed her to be more then a week dead, but to no avail.
-
The group was split on the decision to go find out the cause of chaos, but ultimatly we decided to search outside the safety of our shelter. We encountered a group of guards battling a demonic beast, but before we could come to their aid, a drunk stopped us and somehow convinced us the battle was not for us. I regret not facing the abomination and removing the accursed being from the eyes of the innocent…. We headed north after that bout and watched as a group of hell knights slaughtered innocent krovosians. Were these warriors not meant to guard the king and his realm? so many unanswered questions. The streets were too dangerous for us, we returned to the fortune tellers home to rest.
-
When we awoke we were greeted by Zellara, who seemed almost spectral. She told us she was indeed dead, however her magic allowed her to communicate with us, but for short times. Although she spoke in riddles and half truths she explained the king was dead and his wife was now the ruler of the throne. We were guided to seek and audience and to help where we can. With the help of a bejeweled brooch we were granted a meeting with her majesty. When we met the queen she was not grieving which I found odd. The meeting was short and we were given the honor to aid the queen’s guard.

Conquest of the corrupt
Righteous retribution for the Krovosians
After a brief meeting with the fortune teller Zellara, my kin and I sought out the hiding place of the crime lord Gaedren Lamm. Although some young vagrants were watching us, we gave chase and found out what we could of our upcoming heist. The children were let go, I do not believe they had much choice in their lives, another reason to put to justice this madman…

-
We arrived at the docks without any other surprises. after dispatching of the guard dog and that insane orc, we finally were able to make headway in our pursuit. The children helped us dispatch the task masters and i pray they all made it out in safety. I do not have much trust for the silph among our kin, but perhaps it is first impressions. After the battle we made way to the anchored ship. We slew the apprentice mage without much hassle and his kin shortly after. However I had a misstep on one of the planks and fell through to the briggs. To my surprise spiders awaited me, but the rogue and gnome were quick to my aid, I am thankful to have faithful friends on this night.
-
From there we recouped and made our way down the boardwalk to Gaedren’s lair. Me and the gnome Scapp were attacked once we entered his chamber from below the boardwalk. An alligator of giant proportions pulled us down into the cold sea waters. As the gnome and I fought our way out, the others dispatched of Gaedren and we went about searching for more clues. Within the wardrobe we found corpses…. My beloved, a master sorcerer, and to our surprise the fortune teller Zellara…
-
I have many questions for the one who set us on our quest, but for now the dead need proper burial and we need to plan for tomorow. I hear shouting from the streets, I gather what I could find and we head back onto the dangerous streets of Krovosa.

Welcome to your campaign!
A blog for your campaign

Wondering how to get started? Here are a few tips:

1. Invite your players

Invite them with either their email address or their Obsidian Portal username.

2. Edit your home page

Make a few changes to the home page and give people an idea of what your campaign is about. That will let people know you’re serious and not just playing with the system.

3. Choose a theme

If you want to set a specific mood for your campaign, we have several backgrounds to choose from. Accentuate it by creating a top banner image.

4. Create some NPCs

Characters form the core of every campaign, so take a few minutes to list out the major NPCs in your campaign.

A quick tip: The “+” icon in the top right of every section is how to add a new item, whether it’s a new character or adventure log post, or anything else.

5. Write your first Adventure Log post

The adventure log is where you list the sessions and adventures your party has been on, but for now, we suggest doing a very light “story so far” post. Just give a brief overview of what the party has done up to this point. After each future session, create a new post detailing that night’s adventures.

One final tip: Don’t stress about making your Obsidian Portal campaign look perfect. Instead, just make it work for you and your group. If everyone is having fun, then you’re using Obsidian Portal exactly as it was designed, even if your adventure log isn’t always up to date or your characters don’t all have portrait pictures.

That’s it! The rest is up to your and your players.
